read moreDo you remember when Wal-Mart had a huge fabric department and would have a quilt of the month? This was way back in the late 90's early 2000. The pattern would have a free pattern for the taking. You didn't even need to purchase fabric to get the free pattern. Every month I would get the pattern but would rarely the fabric due to money was tight when the kids were still at home.
One of the best things about finishing UFO's is the memories put into to each quilt. With this quilt I was at a loss for what inspired this odd for me colorway. A quick search for the quilt on my blog and I found the inspiration was a trip to the mailbox on a beautiful fall day while wearing a flannel shirt. What can I say...I'm an odd critter and never know what will inspire my quilty brain. You can find the original post here. And then here as a forgotten UFO.
My first finish of 2023! Yippee! We know this quilt as The Hummingbird or Periwinkle but I'm calling mine Pocketful of Starlight.
The name comes from a song my dad used to sing when I was little. I'm sure most of you know the song.
